Thursday, Friday and Today

As some of you may have noticed the blog hasn’t been updated in since Wednesday, I haven’t died, or quit or forgot how to type so don’t worry. The problem is I started working on Thursday and my shifts are quite long and end quite late and it means that when I get in I don’t have much time to do anything apart from eat, shower and sleep as well as making sure the missus, cats and birds are all okay.

So unfortunately during my working week (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday) There won’t be much activate on here, however this means that come Sunday through to Tuesday I’ll be recharged from the 3 days off the poker grind and I’ll be back posting on here.

I am working for Amazon.co.uk in one of their warehouses (AKA Fulfillment Center) My job title is Trainee Stower, which is basically just dragging round carts full of items that are sold on the Amazon website and packing them away into bins (Either cardboard boxes, drawers or metal shelves). It may sound boring but it’s not too bad and the 10 hours and 30 minutes of my shift seem to fly away, and it’s variance free money so I can’t really moan about it, we can’t all sit down all day for the rest of our lives now can we.

This is where I work,

Image

It is the size of around 13 football pitches, and I am walking around 10-15 miles a day, but it’s not all bad everyone that I work with seems sound and proper down to earth, apart from one complete wanker who constantly follows everyone around but as they say there is always one, hopefully he makes too many mistakes soon and they give him the boot, but life goes.

So tonight I am down the pub, just celebrating the first week is over, and I’ll be back on the grind tomorrow at some point hopefully I can get around 5,000 hands in on 2NL and clear another $10 VIP Reward and get my roll back over $100 after my horrible day at 5NL on Wednesday (10BI’s Down)

But the $50 wasn’t spewed away or because I was playing badly as far as I could tell I just kept running into the tops of villains ranges which kind of got a bit annoying towards the end of my session, one hand I can remember was against a really loose fish running at around 60/40 VPIP/PRF over something like 60 or so hands, and it went a little like this.

Hero K9s

Villian ??

Flop KJ2

Turn X

River X

We got it all in on the Turn, and he turned over JJ for a flopped set.

I got outdrawn over and over again, set over sets, nuts flush vs rivered full house’s and so on.

But tomorrow is a new day, a new week and I should hopefully have my poker buzz back from over the past 3 days.Well I won’t bore you anymore, I’ll speak to you all again tomorrow night hopefully after a good session.

DownSwing at 5NL

18 Sep

DownSwing at 5NL

Today was terrible at the tables I lost 10BIs at 5NL so unfortunately I had to move back down to 2NL I played pretty well but just kept running into the tops of villians ranges, good news is I built some back at the 2NL tables which was good, I am also close to getting another $10 VIP Bonus which will come in handy after my $50 loss at 5NL.

On the other hand I am starting work tomorrow which is good due to variance free money however I wont be able to grind as much so my volume will go down, makes me feel a bit pissed off ending my volume on a downswing but hey that’sImage poker.

Anyways heres my graph

Bad Start To 5NL

17 Sep

Bad Start To 5NL

Well I started my 5NL journey today, and the first day didn’t go well at all, every time I had the goods they folded, when I had near the nuts they had the nuts, I ran under EV a lot and just got unlucky in certain spots. I know I may have played badly at some point, but it didn’t feel like it was my day today. On the other hand though I have enjoyed being off the 2NL tables even though it looks like I will be back there soon to grind up some winnings if I continue too lose at the 5NL tables.

Some good news as well today, I went for my drugs and alcohol test for my new job and I passed (Wasn’t surprised) and now I have my start date, which is this Thursday, and with my doctors appointment tomorrow and money and stuff to sort out for getting too work doesn’t look like there will be much volume over the next few days.

Well here’s my graph, I’m calling it a night now (22:11) as I’ve got a headache coming and will only start playing bad if it carries on, so I am going to get some sleep and recover for work at the end of the week.

Saying Good Bye To 2NL

Saying Good Bye To 2NL (Hopefully)

Well yesterday marks a special day for me poker wise, I’ve had my biggest winning day so far since starting to play cash, and hopefully this will be my last day at 2NL goodbye tables full of fish and nit peddlers and lets hope for a good start to the next step on the ladder at 5NL I am moving up with $115 which is a bit low I know but I don’t mind dropping back down if need be.

I have also cut down on my amount of cigarettes I have had today so I will hopefully continue to do this until I no longer need too smoke, that’s a good enough start for me.

So before I start my post midnight grind I’ll be skimming through blackrain’s book on the micros and see what he suggests differently on 5nl and then I will get a few thousand hands in before I go to bed I hope.

Well here is my graph enjoy.

Yesterday + Week

16 Sep

Yesterday

I’m going to start off by saying that the quiiting smoking didn’t last too long, I’m kind of gave in too easy but oh well I can and will try again soon, but on the virtual felt I ran and played real nice and had another 10BI day which was good as I needed a good winning to end the week, so here is my yesterdays graph.

Image

And for the week I played 26K hands and made a magnificent profit of $5 which is good really as I was $30 down at one stage so I am happy with ending the week in the green, next I will show you some of my biggest hands of the week both winning and loosing, followed by my weekly graph.

Quitting Smoking

15 Sep

Quitting Smoking

I’ve been smoking for around 2 years and I’ve come to realise what a waste of money the dirty habit is so it’s come to a time in my life where I have everything I want, I have got my beautiful fiancee, my own place although rented, two beautiful kittens and my two little feathery friends who I wouldn’t change for the world. Things still need to come into my life such as a stable job which would result in variance free money and I want children (Two in fact). So it’s time for a change and for me too kick the habit for good, a lot of my friends have done it, so why can’t I?

So from today (15-09-2013) when I wake up in the morning I will not have a cigarette ever again well at least that is the plan, I know it will be difficult and stressful but that’s what coffee is for right?

This will also help both my physical and mental fitness, I won’t be killing myself slowly and I wont be relying on a cigarette to calm me down or for anything else, this will also have a knock on effect on having children as we all know smoking kills the sperm cells and that’s never a good thing, I will also have less expenditure to worry about as smoking is like another bill on top of every day spendings so in the long run smoking is a big -EV thing too do. I hope no one else starts and if your also trying to quit good luck. We Can Do This.

No Volume

15 Sep

No Volume

Well yesterday was a poker free day, almost I did manage to squeeze in 900 or so hands and with a decent profit aswell, love it when I run hot, however would have loved to carry on playing when I was doing so well, but unfortunately I was at a wedding which was a good break from the old grinding stone.

I wasn’t drinking though as the old pockets are a bit tight at the moment (Fuck The Job Center). So in all I think I drank 1 Vodka and Coke, half a pint of Kronenberg and a bottle of Fosters Gold, so when I got in I got straight to the grinding but it was after 12PM so more about that on my next post.

Well here is the graph. Enjoy.

Swings Galore

14 Sep

Swings Galore

Well yesterday wasn’t the best of days I am unsure how I ended the day as my PT4 database got wiped due to my pc being turned off while it was running and then when I did re-import it, PT4 decided otherwise and froze so I had to exit it again, I have a chart for yesterday but unaware how true it actually is.

I also lost a bit playing HU with one of the members from my skype group, not fun at all I grinded most if not all back on the 2nl zoom tables though so not to worry.

Again not sure on volume as consequences of PokerTracker4 but my graph says around 4K hands, so i’ll go with that.

Keeping this post nice and short, so here’s my graph.

I’m Back

12 Sep

I’m Back

Yesterday went surprisingly well for me, I finished with $20 profit, played pretty well all day and ran good in some spots, I am hoping this continues to be the case for a while whilst I rebuild from my losses over the past week or so, I have tightened up a lot and have nearly learnt when not to C Bet the pot, so I will continue to work on this until I have it cracked.

I also made SilverStar today which was rather nice, this means I will make a slightly higher % of value back now, which is always good.

My volume still isn’t the best only played 4,718 hands yesterday wanted to get 5,000-6,000 in but couldn’t find the time, but this still brings me closer to my goal of 80K hands this month I’ve currently played 36,954 with a total profit of $9.98 working back from a huge downswing caused due to variance and my bad play, so hopefully the next 44,000 hands or so are all in profit which will lead to a good 1st month at the cash tables.

Finally the most recent graph.

The Ships Sinking

12 Sep

The Ships Sinking

Well yesterday was brilliant, I couldn’t do anything right I lost a lot of money and tilted like a mofo, which I know isn’t good but couldn’t help it, I was trying to grind my losses back but just couldn’t. So luckily for me Mac (From MicroClimbing Skype Group) came to my rescue, sort of. We went through all my loosing hands on PT4 and looked at my stats.

We found out that I had a few leaks in my game, sort of like a sinking ship (hence the title of this post) but I couldn’t just jump into a life preserver I had to and will continue fixing the holes in my ship (Game) until there is no more.

So we started off with;

Raising too many hands preflop (Tighten up)

3Bet Sizing was wrong (Bet Bigger)

CBetting too much (Check with Middle Pair etc)

Bluffing too much (Don’t Bluff)

So I worked on a few things, got my bet sizing sorted out and wrote down some things about raising preflop and 3betting, we also noticed I wasn’t paying attention to stack sizes when betting or 3betting, so this will also get worked on.

Here is the damage for yesterday.

Image

So after I had the coaching session, I did 2 half an hour sessions, on 4x 2NL 6 Max Zoom tables, and after both of these sessions I was up around $11 after 650 hands, this doesn’t show much as small sample however my stats had dropped a lot I had tightened my opening range, and sorted my 3 bet sizes out. However my Flop C Bet % was still quite high but I will keep an eye on that and see how things go, so I am crossing my fingers that I can keep up the rebuild of my roll and can continue with my quest for the higher stakes.

Finally, the Skype group is filling up quite fast there’s not many more spaces need filling so hopefully by the end of the week we will have the whole of our group.

Thanks for reading and also a huge thank you to Mac for his help.
